What are DNS records?
DNS records tell the internet where a domain points and how it handles mail and verification. A records map a name to an IPv4 address, MX records tell mail where to go, TXT records hold verification and email policies, and NS records name the servers for the domain.
Checking records is the first step when you debug an email setup, move a domain or verify ownership. If a record does not exist, you get an empty result.
Resolve DNS records from code
Use the DNS endpoint to check records automatically, for example during onboarding or monitoring. The API costs 0.5 credit (about $0.0005) per request.
Frequently asked questions
Which record types are supported?
A, AAAA, MX, TXT, NS, CNAME, SOA and ANY.
What does TTL mean?
TTL is how long, in seconds, a record may be cached before it is looked up again.
Why are there no records?
The domain may not have a record of that type. Try another type or check the spelling.
Why do changes not show up immediately?
DNS answers are cached, so a change can take up to the previous TTL to appear everywhere.
